Two Journalists with United Television a staple of the Despite Media Group in Ashanti Region have been shortlisted for the maiden Ashanti Region Ghana Journalist Awards slated for 31st May, 2019.

Kwadwo Boadu and Jeff Nsiah Boadu are part of the twenty one Journalists shortlisted in the region for the awards.

According to the committee at a Press Conference to reveal the nominees, they noted that the Association received 99 entries and after scrutinizing and sorting, twenty one were shortlisted.

Some of the Categories the applicants were expected to apply included; Rural Reporting, Education, Sports, Entertainment, Tourism and Culture, Photo Journalism, HIV/AIDS among others.

The GJA is reviving the move to organise regional awards schemes to honour journalists in the regions separate from what is organised at the national level in Accra.

Members of the awards committee panel are Elizabeth Kankam Boadu (GNA), Sebastian Freiku (The Chronicle), Saaed Ali Yaqub (Multimedia), Kofi Adu Domfeh (Media General) and Johnson Gyampo (The Pioneer).

The panel selected by the Ashanti Regional GJA Chapter scrutinised entries from the potential winners over the last two months.
