Kweku Baako Jnr, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, is of the firm opinion that there is "nothing criminal" about what Professor Austin Nwagbara, the visiting Nigerian lecturer, who stands accused of peddling falsehoods following the contents of a tape in which he was captured allegedly inciting Nigerians against Ghanaians going viral.
The Nigerian Professor has been captured in a video that went viral making damming remarks about Ghana’s educational sector and alleged harsh treatment meted out to Nigerian residents in Ghana and allegedly inciting the Nigerian community to take up strategies by employing the media to destroy Ghana’s image as retaliation for the harassment suffered by Nigerians
"We’re highly skilled and highly talented and blessed people but many at time we lack strategy, Nigerians tend to lack strategy. You can have good skills, if you don’t know how to let people know it, it is there; dies, like having a factory full of items in the warehouse. If you don’t advertise it remains in the warehouse”.
“They have harassed us a lot, I know that… What I’m saying is we need strategies. I’ll suggest something which the embassy can think about; I know they know which they can do immediately at the Nigerians community. There is bad image for Nigeria; we can take it back through the press. We can reverse it.
“We have powerful Nigerian media stations, channels broadcast all over the world, there’s active online social media, the plot in Nigeria. Let them come here and run documentaries of the experiences of Nigerians and blast it all over the world. In three days Ghana would respond,” he said in the video.
This statement has been widely condemned and Prof. Nwagbara was arrested Tuesday and cautioned on “offense of Offensive Conduct Conducive to the breach of peace.”
A police statement, however, said the visiting lecturer has “been admitted to bail”.
But Kweku Baako, reacting to this, said there is "nothing incriminating" about his comments. He, however, added if it is media war the Nigerian professor wants, Ghanaians are up to it.
"He peddled a lot of falsehood; yes, but I am yet to . . . I really didn’t see the hint of criminality . . . if it’s just the media exposure to embarrass Ghana I think we are very capable of counter . . . no fears; if it is media way, I think we are very capable. Unless there is something else I have not heard bothering on criminality . . . " he indicated on Wednesday's edition of 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM.

for the first time kweko baako jnr has been honest in his submission. the nigerian prof said nothing incriminating, is it not true nigerians has talents? is it not true ghana university lecturers use handout to teach and students who do not buy fail, is that not lower the standard of ghana universities quality? ghanaians do not like the truth, its a shame police are like robot anything NPP tell them they do, there was no need for prof arrest, backward GHANA
Akuffo Addo is addicted incompetent and impotent in sustainable policy formulations and implementation. Ghana deserves policies, programs and projects that are sustainable and progressive. Vote against Nana Addo, vote against incompetent and impotent (II).
..And just like there was nothing criminal about Rawlings having your impo-tent balls pressed! I don't know what kind of weed the people in the 'he-did-nothing-wrong' camp smoked! How can you not see anything wrong or cri.mi.n.al about what he said! The guy said very derisive and derogatory things about an entire country's higher institutions of learning and some people thing this is not a big deal? More so when his claims are not even based on facts but on xenophobic inclinations! This guy is not fit to enter Ghana ever again less to talk about him teaching in one of such higher institutions of learning which he so passionately denigrated! Those saying he did nothing criminal then hear this:if you denigrate our image as a country or any symbol of the nation that is offensive and krimynal! I am waiting for all those guys to come again after the tramol they consumed wears off!
The divide and conquer, destroy and plunder strategy is not working. The people are woke across the entire continent of Africa.
Ghanaians like to be sentimental, which leads senseless emotional, stomach and parochial talks. The Nigerian Prof's message had nothing to do with Education. His main problem was how Nigerians are treated in Ghana. Let's deal with the main issue of his message and stop being petty about his comparison of Ghana's education with Nigeria's. Stop the Xenophobia against Nigerians, as is going on in Kumasi and some parts of Ghana. Let's stop GUTA from taking the laws in their hands. Why is this only happening whenever NPP is in government? Why don't we hear some of this problematic issues perpetrated anytime NPP and this Ashanti, Akyem and Dagomba Party come to power? Busia did it in 1969 and Nigeria retaliated 2x. Think of who will lose if this Xenophobia continue.
WHAT OF THIS? TO SAY THAT EDUCATION IN GHANA IS 80% INFERIOR TO UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA IS SOMETHING TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY? WHAT ARE HIS IMPERICAL ANALYSIS?
I don't usually side with some of your submissions on issues but on this note you've shown how courageous you are in having a dissenting view. The man said nothing incriminating or criminal. The Ghana Police played into the on going Xenophobia perpetrated by some in the country against Nigeria. Ghana Police should wise up and stop behaving like the wagging tail of a confused dog, who waves at anything.
My humble question writer; who is your pay master too?
