The Founder and Leader of Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpalo has debunked claims of LPG as participant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ‘Kum Yen preko’ demonstration describing it as a waste of time.
According to him a true ‘sensible’ Ghanaian will not waste his time to go out and demonstrate because NDC has nothing new to offer Ghanaians urging people not to get involved.
Members of the Coalition for Social Justice, today, Tuesday, 9 July 2019 embarked on a demonstration dubbed “Kum Yen Preko” to register their displeasure over what they term as severe hardship in the country.
Members of the group are unhappy with the state of insecurity, attack on media freedom among others.
Groups that have shown interest to participate include the Minority caucus in Parliament, the Greater Accra Market Women Association, the Concerned Drivers Union, True Drivers Union, Free Media Vanguard, and the Coalition for National Sovereignty, disgruntled MenzGold customers and unpaid customers of Gold Coast Fund Management.
But Mr. Akpalo reacting on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme reiterated that it will be a waste of time to go out and demonstrate as NDC were the same people who had the opportunity to rule this country but chose to mismanage the economy, quizzing "so what is there to demonstrate”.
“We don’t see anything meaningful to participate in this demonstration…what are they demonstrating about...Nothing serious has happened in this country for us to demonstrate…so why demonstrate?
He however was of the view that the demonstrators want to engage in some exercise as their reason not enough to demonstrate as all the things mentioned are those the NDC could not fulfill while in power.
He also appealed to Ghanaians not to make the mistake of entrusting the country’s resources, its future into the hands of John Mahama and his NDC again because they are the cause of all the hardship this country is facing now.
“All the hardship that this country is facing now is the cause of John Mahama…this country suffered under Mahama and I don’t see why they can still gather strength and said they are coming back to rule this country…I don’t get it,” he quizzed.
NDC should just shout up and give Ghanaians some peace of mind to run this country after messing up our economy…they should give us a break…I don’t think this time around Ghanaians are ready to give NDC another opportunity to NDC to come and mismanage the economy,” he stressed.
