Contrary to claims that the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) did not follow due diligence in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal, a statement from the authority has claimed otherwise.
The statement indicated that each step of the transaction was subjected to careful scrutiny and various stakeholder approvals.
“in line with best practice in International Business Transactions, all documents submitted as part of the transaction were accepted on the basis of good faith and the presumption in law as to their validity. While the current development is an unfortunate setback to the progress of the Concession, MiDA wishes to assure the public that it welcomes investigations into this matter” the statement indicated.
However, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr thinks the statement is funny.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Tuesday, he said: "after reading MiDA's statement I laughed uncontrollably. They claim they did due diligence…where is the due diligence they did".

We wanted this NPP to come to power and we got it, so let everyone keep quite and eat his humble pie. Nothing happen yet, more is coming.
Any serious country or organisation which is truly committed to fighting corruption and procurement fraud would have made sure the first person who should have been sacked EVEN before GOG announced the concession suspension was the Procurement Agent Just ask the MCC or American Embassy to comment what would have happened in US if similar thing happened within the State Department. No further comment.
Millennium challenge is a scamm against Ghana and other African countries. I think we should set the millennium challenge office on fire and have some peace of mind. Why on should we accept. Just 300 million dollar and in return give up ECG which sells more than 500 million dollars worth of electricity to Ghanaians? ECG makes more than 500 million dollars and every month, so Why sell it? What kind of people accept the sale of their only national grid?
