A former deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said securing a slot in the country’s legislature does not come cheap in terms of resources.
Politicians willing to join parliament may have to spend huge sums of cedis to push through their bid in getting elected as lawmakers for their constituencies, the former government official told host Nana Aba Anamoah on State of Affairs on GHOne TV.
“…I can assure you that contesting for Parliament is not cheap;anybody who tells you that it is a cheap endeavour will not be telling you the truth.it’s quite expensive that is a conversation we can have another day in terms of its sustainability or desirability going forward,” he said in response to a question posed by the host whether he spent so much money to get to the level he is now in the NDC parliamentary primaries coming up this weekend.
Kwakye Ofosu is hoping to annex the Abura Asebu Kwamankese seat as he will be contesting for the primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
He made the decision after some chiefs and elders in the area called on him to do so, according to him.
He said he gave deep consideration and thoughts to the appeal by the respected chiefs and people in the area before declaring his interest in the contest, which comes off Saturday August 24.
On Wednesday he told Starr FM the constituency has not had the best of representations over the years.
“Unfortunately for the people of my constituency they have not had an MP to bring to them the development they need. I believe I am that viable seed they need. My constituency seems to be missing in the National conversation and I have come up with some strategies that will make us known and well represented at all levels

THE LOOT YOU ACQUIRED WHILST IN GOVERNMENT IS YOUR BACKBONE IN THE NDC ELECTIONS. BUT YOU WILL LOSE IN THE ELECTIONS. YOUR LOOT WILL GO WASTE - NANIAAAMA.
Felix, which chiefs called on you to contest the AAK seat. You are not from the Abakrampa neither did you ever lived there so you had to bribe the corrupt chiefs to back your claim of hailing from the place. You started visiting the place and dolling out money to influential people when you saw an opportunity to buy that seat, perhaps the reason you are saying it is very expensive. I hope my people don't stand too low to gift an alien like you the seat for the peanut that you have been distributing to them. Rise up AAK and let this political vulture know that you are not cheap to bought in the fashion.
