The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin has described as baseless assertions that President Akufo-Addo protects government appointees who are accused of corruption.
According to Mr Arhin, every allegation levelled against an appointee of President Akufo-Addo has been investigated by relevant state institutions and the appropriate recommendations later presented to the President.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Mr Arhin said every single act of corruption levelled against a government appointee has been investigated by relevant institutions including the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice of bi-partisan probes in Parliament.
"People who make those assertions, unfortunately, have no basis because at the end of the day, right from day one every single allegation that has been levelled against any appointee of the President, any of them... Right from Boakye Agyarko when he was Minister for Energy, right down to the two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, every single allegation has been investigated," Mr Arhin said.
"The President is not the one who clears them in quote, no. Almost every single act that has been levelled against any of our state appointees are investigated by relevant institutions of state. Whether its the CID, whether it is CHRAJ whatever it is... It's a bi-partisan committee of Parliament these are the ones that carry out those investigations.
"Once they carry out all those investigations and they come to the President and tell him that Mr President, this your appointee after the investigations we found out that he has no case to answer, I mean how can anybody then describe the President as a clearing agent? That's completely unfortunate.
"At the end of the day, whatever investigations are carried out, it's not the President that carries out those investigations, they are carried out by relevant institutions of state. Once they bring their final report and they recommend that the appointee in question should be reinstated, that's what the President goes ahead to do.
"He doesn't arrogate unto himself the powers of investigation and at the end of the day on restatement, no. Those investigations are conducted by the relevant bodies and once they bring the reports to him, he does it. Every single allegation of corruption, that has been levelled against his appointees that is what has been done".
Mr Arhin was providing further details about the suspension of the Chief Executive of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei by President Akufo-Addo.
He also assured that Mr Adjei will be investigated by the relevant state authorities as had happened in the past.
"...In this particular situation, that is exactly what has been done. He has moved to suspend the CEO of the PPA and he has asked the relevant institutions of state such as CHRAJ and the Office of the Special Prosecutor to go ahead and deal with the matter as quickly as possible. So, whatever recommendations they bring to him, he will definitely act on it," he stated.

Ghanaians by our nature are corrupt! so unless we change our nature, we can never eradicate corruption! read the story about the scorpion and the frog, and you will understand?
1.By the letter instructing CHRAJ and OSP to investigate him for conflict of interest, the more serious issues of corruption by diverting state contracts to his company is been muted. A company which is accepted for restrictive tendering is among a few that can execute the contract in the country. So if TDL is winning contracts but cannot execute them, there is clearly corruption taking place. 2. Reselling restrictive tendered contracts for profit is gaining by using his office. 3. Using close family relatives (wife and brother in-law) and possible giving them contract sums so that they bid very close is insider trading violations 4. Taking contracts given on restrictive tendering which usually have tight time schedules and keeping some for months without initiating them could lead to contract overruns and cause financial loss to the state. 5. Hence the loose terminology of conflict of interest is the first step to clearing.
You've hit the name right on the head. Where are all these so called prominent people and groups? Where are they? Are they still in this Ghana or another Ghana? Corruption in Ghana has engulfed all sectors. I don't trust the church and the mosque anymore. Their leaders are leading corruption in the country and we lock up someone who has stolen a fowl for how many years and the people of God and Allah waste our ears if a particular political party is in power. I hold no brief for Mahama as the pressure put on him by these individuals and groups was a good one in my view but why all this loud silence? Where is the Ace Ankomahs, The Christian council, The Catholoic Bishops conference, The Ashanti regional Imam and the one in Brong Ahafo region? WHAT A SHAME. Is Rev Martey not feeling well or has he been hospitalised or not in the country? SHAME on these chalatans.
i share you sentiment. God dey paaa and if we are not able to vote them out of power God will. they will die one one leaving all of the riches for f001s. i declare in the name of Jesus any politician who steal GH money to enrich their sympathetic life style will not be able to sleep da . they will for every be hunted by the blood shared by our ancestor for this nation. siasem
Mr. Arhin, how about charles bissiw, Ursula owusu, how about the PDS case. so on and so on. all cleared. if he is not a clearing agent then who is he . i wasted my time queuing to vote for nana because he promised to take every dime from the ***barred word*** who stole GH cash. but here we are witnessing the same thing. donko mi party. selling everything to themselves including ECG. SMH
Arhin just stop right there. I am particularly interested in the Charles Bissiw case. We all saw the video and later on the CID came to exonerate him for no wrong doing but what is more evidential as a VIDEO COVERAGE? The day Charles Bissiw was seen as part of a delegation to the UK is when I started losing faith in this government. Now I know that Ghana has no future under any politician because they are ONE and have one common aim....to enrich themselves while those of us who voted them into power wallow in abject poverty. God dey we dey one fine day this one too will come to pass.
They a still waiting for the raw tape. And by the way where is Occupy Ghana, Christian Council, Rev Martey, Catholic Bishops, Cross, etc. Long time no hear fro them ooo
Would you shut ur mouth? U think Ghana is a property for the Akyems err... Right from the one..I knew Akufo-Addo is amount to nothing wen it comes to fighting corruption... Coz I knew what happened under Kuffour wen Ghana was mortgaged to only few.. Wen the whole Armed forces recruitment was privatised to a certain Mr Owusu( a civilian who uccupied Brigadier's bungalow at Burma Camp.. My colleagues victims will know what am talking about.. Check all the corruption allegations that have bedevilled this Gov't.. What happens to them?
I guess you received the original footage of this incident to warrant the suspension. Otherwise you’re being selective.
