The two major political parties; the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress are butting heads over recent comments made by Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, founder and leader of the Action Chapel International.
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams is reported to have expressed sadness over how Ghanaian businesses are treated by various governments in the country.
In a sermon on Sunday, 1 September 2019 at Action Chapel International, Duncan Williams said: “the level of insecurity, envy and jealousy in this country is amazing. And if you look at our political system, the way it’s designed, it enhances jealousy and envy. So, it has become a vicious cycle where we have become a society of bringing down one another. Any government that comes, they’ll tell them that: ‘This man is NPP, or this man is NDC; he’s an enemy of our party, he’s an enemy of state, he’s an enemy of the nation, pull him down, bring him down. And we’ll take away everything he has and give it to foreigners..."
Days after that sermon, the NPP says it was wrong for Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams to claim that government does not support indigenous businesses in the country.
Speaking in a panel discussion on Peace FM's 'The Platform' programme, a member of the Communication Team of the ruling party, Sly Tetteh said Archbishop Duncan Williams is a testimony that the ruling government is not against indigenous banks.
"I have a lot of respect for Duncan Williams but I disagree with what he said. It is not true that we don't love our won. if we don't love our own, he himself would not have been successful today..."

Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) thinks Duncan Williams should be hailed.
Deputy Communication Officer in the Bono Region, Eric Adjei, speaking on the same platform, bemoaned the fact that the ruling administration has collapsed indigenous banks in the country leaving the foreign ones and that if the words of the Archbishop will be adhered to, it will help the country.

Ghanaians need to learn to listen first to all who espouse wisdom. Not everyone does that. But I advise against knee-jerk reaction to what anybody says. One’s political party affiliation must never be a litmus test for his or her observations of what is happening in Ghana at any time. The fact that people resort to ad hominem attacks without even seeing the truth or some truth in what is being discussed is only pitiful. Millions of people trying to find solutions to simple problems but instead only find ways to compound them. It is shameful: to say the least.
May the good lord blessed you Bishop. We do to one another and we try to pretend .God bless Papa
PAPA DUNCAN, Please let us ask ourselves this question."Should we have to make a hole our food basket so that whatever we put into it leaked out to Selfish People at the expense of the poor and vulnerable people in the country ".The people who are causing these mess are the Elites in the country and most of them are in the churches and the mosque. Look at the Directors at the Bank of Ghana and the way they allow Micro Finance sprang out everywhere in the country, Is it not Shameful, for a financial Bank like Capital Bank being chaired by a DR Pastor behave this way.
I feel very sadden about how very profound men are mistreated regarding comments that are made under the Constitution you have a freedom of speech. Was the language biligetent, and out of context? You have a right to say what you mean and choose if it is not relating to a particular person, religion, or endanger ing a country. If this was offensive then how can you as a brother, organization, country. assist in the open concerns of the person and make this world a better place. Maybe it is a cry for more interaction with the businesses there in that country. Or, a cry for more love for the people and businesses there. But , whatever was stated it is the ears and heart of the receiver., to to understand in love the messages from the sender. What can we do to be more transparent, and be sure that we are the world, we make this a better place being God's children. Can we reach out and touch somebody 's hand and make this world a better place. This is a very good and honorable teacher. Let the truth be told, and what can you do to Help💖⚘ Where is your foundation " God is Love, and the greatest of these is love. Don't hate or destroy, be solution orientated and create new plans. Peace,
Why do you hide behind (being a pastor)Christianity and do politics. You are a Ghanaian and have the right to express your views but do that as a citizen. You use your position as a pastor to preach politics instead of what you have been called for. Let me remind you that anytime you mount the alter of God your mandate is to do the Kingdom business and nothing else. You can do politic on a different platform if you are given the opportunity and not in church. This attitude and behavior of pastors like you is causing Christianity to suffer. Seeking unnecessary favours from politicians instead of preaching salvation. No wonder you have been branded as a politician. Its a pity. REMEMBER WHATEVER YOU DO, THINK, TOUCH, PREACH, YOU WILL GIVE AN ACCOUNT FOR IT. We are tired of you tarnishing the image of Christ our savior. Think about it.
A foreigner will take take people's or customers monies from his banks and invest in his or her other businesses and when they (Customers) goes to the bank to withdraw part of their monies and they would be told there is no money. What is the pastor talking about? we blacks are the cause of our problems. There is a saying in akan thus"Mmoa a eko adidi mbaa fie, yen ka foforo ngum se won san nko adidi" These banks were given liquidity support starting from NDC era and they use it for their selfish interest against the interest of the customers. Please! pastor, spare our ears
Bishop, please to save your personality stay away from the banking mess that happened in Ghana. And please try and get reports from Bank of Ghana, the 2015 report and the least report of those banks before making any statement on the banking industry. It will save your personality.
WHAT IS DUNCAN WILLIAMS TALKING ABOUT. HAS HE DONE HIS FEASIBILITY STUDIES DILIGENTLY AS TO WHY THE INDIGENOUS BUSINESSES FLOUNDER AND THE FOREIGN BUSINESSES PROGRESS? THE DIFFERENCE HERE IS THAT WE ARE OUR OWN DOWNFALL.THE FOREIGNERS PUT STRINGENT MEASURES IN PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CANNOT STEAL AND MISAPPROPRIATE FUNDS BUT IN OUR CASE FOR EXAMPLE: WHEN ONE GOES TO SEEK A LOAN TO GO INTO BUSINESS,THE BANK MANAGER OF AN INDIGENOUS BANK WILL TAKE A PERCENTAGE BEFORE THE LOAN IS APPROVED.HOW DO WE EXPECT THE BUSINESS TO STRIVE TO SUCCEED. APART FROM RAWLINGS AND CO. WHO CAME TO DESTROY AKAN BUSINESSES I DON'T THINK THE NPP WILL DO SUCH A THING.
IN GHANA, DEPENDING ON WHICH POLITICAL PARTY IN POWER, WHAT YOU SAY WILL EITHER BE TRUTH OR POLITICALLY INFLUENCED. EVEN WHEN YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH. FOR THOSE IN BUSINESSES THEY WILL KNOW CLEARLY THAT, OUR SYSTEM DO NOT FAVOUR LOCAL COMPANIES AND GOVERNMENTS OVER THE YEARS HOUNDS THEM TO DEATH WITH PERCEIVED POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS. CHECK HOW AND AND WHEN INDIGENOUS COMPANIES ARE PAID WHEN THEY TRANSACT BUSINESS WITH GOVERNMENTS, SOMETIMES OVER YEAR, YOU WILL STILL BE CHASING PAYMENTS BUT FOREIGN CONTRACTORS AND COMPANIES ARE PAID SOMETIMES BEFORE THEY EVEN BEGIN. IS THIS LOVE FOR INDIGENOUS COMPANIES WHEN GOVERNMENTS WILL BE INTERESTED TO IMPORT COMMON T' SHIRTS FROM CHINA WHILES GHANAIANS CAN EASILY PRODUCE THEM. THIS IS THE BARE TRUTH AND GOVERNMENTS SHOULD SIMPLY DO BETTER AND STOP THIS NEEDLESS DEFENSE.
I Respectfully disagree with you Sir who spoke these words "if we don't love our own, he himself would not have been successful today..." It is God Almighty that has made Papa successful. God Bless you man of God Duncan Williams.
