Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party and Member of Parliament for Adenta Constituency Hon Yaw Buaben Asamoa has described for President Mahama’s assertions that the New Patriotic Party is training thugs to destabilize 2020 elections as “nonsensical”.
Parrying allegations of the government using state facilities to train party activists, Hon Buaben Asamoah asked the former President to go to court if he has ample evidence to back his claims
In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie, host of Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning show, the NPP stalwart started that Mr Mahama's remarks smacks of someone who is desperate for power.
"....the former President should concentrate on finding a running mate for the 2020 elections rather than sitting on the fence and throwing tantrums.
If he has evidence that the NPP government is training thugs, he should go to court and spare us the unnecessary noise and trying to create the confusion," he added.
Last week, Mr Mahama met with executives of the Ghana Journalists Association and revealed the NDC has evidence to show that the government is offering training in combat for some individuals at Asutuare in the Eastern Region.
"I remember at the time of Ayawaso West Wuogon, there was a letter that came out asking party executives to bring able-bodied people to be trained as security.
"Since then, we have evidence that those people have been to Asutuare and trained in batches over and over again in all kinds of combat techniques and other things," Mr Mahama is quoted to have said.
But in a sharp rebuttal, the Communications Director of the NPP pointed out whiles the former President is at liberty to court Ghanaians, he should do so by providing "quality policy alternatives" and "constructive engagement", adding that the NPP remains resolute in fulfilling campaign promises made to Ghanaians, and is not interested in engaging in needless banter.
"Obviously, candidate Mahama is trying to court leading figures in our society. Religious leaders, business persons, professionals, public and civil servants, academics, traditional authorities, students, trade unionists, journalists, security servants, and many others. He is entitled to do so. But the least this beloved country deserves is constructive engagement. Quality policy alternatives. The NPP is eagerly waiting for John Mahama's’ policy on anything. Meanwhile, the NPP is fully harnessed into the unfolding program of H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo...
"....Mahama misled the people when President and now misleading them with lies in opposition," Lawyer Buaben Asamoah stated.

It's interesting when people in public office just wake up and talk anyhow. Ahhh does this call for insults eiii masa the economy is bad nothing is working so channel your energy there but start parking your bags because boo is going home we are tired with this taxation for nothing government.
Mahama and his NDC cannot think of any credible policy or activity that the NPP is not already doing, so they are in a tight corner. Be it Agric, Education, Health, Security etc. etc. the NPP already has some interventions going on, so the NDC is confused. All they can possibly say now is that what NPP is doing, they can do it better, like Yarmin said about 1D1F. It is therefore not surprising that anytime Mahama gets the opportunity to meet a particular group, he cannot talk about any policy, all he does it pick on an issue about the government and begin haranguing on it.
