Seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt has raised questions about the bullion van attack at Ablekuma Fanmilk in Accra which resulted in the death of a Police officer.
Four armed robbers shot and killed a Police officer guarding the bullion van which reportedly stopped at a fuel station to refill its tank.
A CCTV camera captured the moment when robbers riding a motorcycle ambushed the van immediately after it parked at the fuel station.
The robbers made away with a sum of money and a gun belonging to the late Police officer.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Kwesi Pratt asked some questions worth answering as he found the incident perplexing.
"The robber who got down was wielding a gun, is that the Police officer didn't see him approaching the vehicle? Also, what was the bullion van doing at a fuel station and if it was going to collect money, what precautionary measures were taken? Why wasn't the Police officer wearing armored uniform?", he asked, stressing he cannot fathom the incident.
"If the Police officer was wearing a bulletproof vest, maybe he might not have died", he added.
Mr. Pratt also expressed concerns over the treatment of Police officers in the country, lamenting about how they are under-resourced and the need for them to be protected.
"What sin have the Police committed against us to deserve all these?", he further asked and demanded "the Police also need protection...It is about time to take good care of the Police".

MR KWESI PRATT BULLET PROOFS CAN NOT BE WARNED AT THE FACE PLS AND THIS BULLET PROOF ISSUE IMMEDIATELY THE SECURITY SERVICES BEGINS TO PUT THEM ON THE ARMED ROBBERS WOULD SUREL GET THEM TOO.THE ISSUE IS THE SECURITY SERVICES MUST STOP USING PHONES WHILST ON DUTY BECAUSE OF THE PHONE THEY DONT EVEN RAISE THEIR HEAD TO OBSERVE AN AREA OR LOCATION.THIS LAST ROBBERY ISSUE IS A SECURITY FAILURE OR INEXPERIENCE BECAUSE THIS POLICE MAN HAD TO GET DOWN FROM HE PICK UP AT THE ENTANCE OF THE FILLING STATION AND THEN LOOK AROUND BUT HE DIDNT
I am not sympathetic to the demise of the police officer. If he had done his job well, he should have noticed the motorbike approaching. You are guarding money, and you don't see two people on a motorbike as a threat? The robber was holding an ak47, walked to the van with the barrel of the gun pointing down, opened the door still with the barrel pointing down and the police officers did nothing until the guy opened the door of the van. The police officer would have had the upper hand if he had been vigilant and observed every passing car or bike as a threat. He had a pistol and that was enough to have eliminated the robber opening the door. Why was the door not even locked from the inside? Our police force is a joke. You go to the banks and you see how they leisurely and unprofessional guard the banks. They will never see any threat coming until it's too late.
I doubt if the vest can withstand that closed range several rounds. Someone shooting at the closed range will not even aim through the vest. This is an inside job and the poor police doesn’t have much to do.
Mr Knowall, the vest only convers a portion of your front and back. When you are shot through the side, the bullet will penetrate you. If you are shot through your vest too, you will feel the full impact of the shot and even get your ribs broken etc so please accept that the man had no chance.
