The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called for a clean campaign devoid of acrimony and insults as the party's flagbearer race heats up.
Ten people including the Vice President have filed to contest the party's flagbearership and campaigning has intensified with some aspirants being accused of waging hate campaign.
Addressing party delegates on the final day of his Greater Accra tour, Dr. Bawumia said, as one family, it is important for all camps to understand that the party needs a united front to face the "main enemy" which is the NDC.
"We all should understand that the campaign we are having now is for internal election. The main enemy in 2024 is the NDC. As we embark on the campaign, let us not speak against each other," Dr. Bawumia said.
"We want peace, we want a clean campaign and we want a clean election. We don't want anyone to go out there and speak against opponents. Because after our elections, we will need everyone on board to tackle the NDC.
In a clear demonstration of his commitment to a clean campaign, Dr. Bawumia said he has asked his campaign staff and well-wishers to be mindful of their utterances in order to ensure the unity of the party.
"So I have told all my supporters and spokespersons that we want a clean campaign and they should not go out there and insult anyone", he added.
He further said; "We are one family so let's all stay together. When the contest is over, we will all come together as one family and make sure that the NDC doesn't come back to power. That is very important. Let's keep the NPP in power and we want unity in the NPP."
Dr. Bawumia rounded off his campaign in the Greater Region over the weekend with a visit to the Obom Domeabra Constituency.

Well said, but i expected you to have issued a statement to caution Dr Gideon Boako in particular. His statement that NPP supporters who are not happy with the performance of the can leave was an infantile statement. If NPP supporters were to leave can he get same number of people to replace them? I doubt whether Dr. Gedeon Boako has his own biological children who are 18 years and above who are qualified to queue to vote for the NPP in December, 2024, if he has, fine, but how many are they? If No, who's 18 and above year olds is he banking his hopes on for them to queue to vote for the NPP to win for him to continue as a staffer at the presidency. Such unguided comments can put NPP suppoters off. Currently the party grassroots support base are not happy. The feel neglected and relegated to the background. If they have nothing to show for sacrificing to bring the NPP to power at least let them have their peace of mind. 2024 is not going to be easy at all. The NDC is more than prepared. It's good you have admonished those small boys closer to you. Be very careful with them, they can make you unpopular even within the NPP not to talk of the generality of the Ghanaian people. Ghanaians like the NPP , unfortunately they feel let down. This is where the challenge is.
