Former PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed has hailed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as being one of the finest brains Ghana and the New Patriotic Party is blessed with.
Atik Mohammed, contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, tagged Dr. Bawumia as a competent leader saying, "I trust in the competence of the Vice President. I do. You see circumstances may somewhat create impressions about what he could otherwise have done but you cannot take his competence away from him".
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is among the ten candidates vying for the position of flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party as the party gears up for its Special Delegates Congress on August 26 and main congress on November 4, 2023.
The Special Delegates Congress is to trim the number of the aspirants to five and the five compete in the main Congress.
Atik absolved the Vice President of blames that he being the Head of the Economic Management Team (EMT) is responsible for the economic woes visited upon Ghanaians as a result of financial misdirection.
He argued that Dr. Bawumia, although Head of the EMT, is somehow only a figurehead of the team and that when it comes to making financial decisions, the buck stops with the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
"The Finance Minister does not answer to him. He has answers to the President. The point I am trying to establish is he is not the Head of the EMT in the sense that he controls economic policy. He is just a part of a team; he happens to chair that team...The team itself answers to somebody. You report to someone. The Finance Minister is answerable to only one person who is the President," he said.

Bawumia is a gem,a gift to Ghana...he's the one Ghana needs at the moment...though head of EMT,he's limited as ATIK has said, and because he's team player, humble and forthright, he never raised his voice against his boss, tho disagreed with many things,eg,the E-LEVY...that's why after the implementation of E-LEVY one hasn't heard his comment on it...now with his competence and vision,if he takes over the power,he'll be free to implement his rich ideas and policies to develop Ghana. He's the most dreadful, fearful by the NDC,he's NDC's real threat, and painful thorn in their flesh, knowing he's going the dip into zongos and northern regions votes.
I only get on peacefmonline to see how people who have been paid can come and hail a liar and an incompetent person like Bawumia. All he said in opposition has been a monumental lie and here you are here hailing because it's said politics is all about manipulation knowing very well what you're saying is a lie. Bawumia indeed.
@Dan, I hear you and I get you but seeing how Bawumia is, he is going to inspire the youth. He is going to restore hope. He is going to use data to mesmerise the Ndc when giving the nod. It will be new and unique when Bawumia wins the primaries. He is not an Akan. He is a Moslem. He is from the north. The npp wants to win the third time, who has the best chance to beat Mahama? Insha Allah, it is possible and the battle is still the Lord’s
Bawumia's competence is not in doubt. Unfortunately this CAD saga has taken the shine off those campaigning to be flag bearer of the NPP. I keep asking what will be going through their minds in the last few weeks. The growing perception that all Ghanaian politicians are th ie ves have been amplified by the CAD saga. If care is not taken , a time is coming when Ghana will record less than 40% turnout in general elections. People may not be saying it openly but inside their minds they believe every cabinet minister including the big people at the presidency all have these monies in their homes , that is the perception out there. If a ' bola' minister can have such amounts of foreign currency at home , if th ie ves can raid the home of a small girl secretary in the seat of government and bolt away with over 100,000.00 dollars , what will the ministers' of health, defence, interior, agriculture, works and housing, trade and industry, foreign affairs and the untouchable finance minister also have at home. In Ghana rumours carry more weight than the reality. Perceptions die hard. This is the only challenge Bawumia may face. For close to 7 years Bawumia's name has never come up in any scandal in this government , that tells us he's very careful. But what is the mind set of the ordinary Ghanaian going into the 2024 elections, that's where the problem is. In Ghana the perception out there is that every one found in prison is a criminal, even if you went to prison because of a genuine debt you couldn't pay, because you fought with someone, because you killed someone you caught in your bedroom with your wife ,any one seeing you in prison uniform thinks you are criminal. This is how powerful perceptions can be, however wrong. This is where I fear for my big brother Bawumia . The NPP appointees / the public utterances of the president have succeeded in making Mahama the pope. You visit the Ashanti region , the people of the constituency where you got 80,000 votes in the last elections complained about the bad nature their roads and instead of giving them hope you tell them they can vote for the NDC, after all you don't hold their hands when they go to vote, and that it's their problem not yours? I thought leadership is about giving your people hope under all odds not cheeky answers to their genuine concerns. So it sounded like after all, i have gotten what i want and i don't care about a future NPP after my exit . Definitely you wouldn't have given this answer in 2020 when you were campaigning for your second term. See, when you see a bird on top of a tree and you pick a stone to hit it, your target is not the branch of the tree, however if the stone misses the target, it hits the tree. People may use the cane meant for someone on whoever wins the NPP's primaries as the presidential candidate for election 2024, surprisingly some will be NPP supporters, out of anger they may use canes on the innocent presidential candidate. This is the fear
No brainer, that of all the men currently seeking to rule the nation across all the divides, Bawumia has no peer. He is matchless.
💯 true! Also The Finance Minister is a creature of the Constitution but the EMT is not.
