Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has questioned why Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is still at post.
He wondered why Ken Ofori-Atta would read the mid-year budget review despite agitations by some Members of Parliament of both the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) calling for his removal from office months ago as they reposed little or no confidence in him.
Mr. Pratt expressed difficulty in understanding why the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party seemingly cannot find a better replacement for the Finance Minister.
"Does the NPP lack people? I can't understand it. Does the NPP not have people again? The party has people, so where are these brilliant people? . . . Is it only one person who understands the economy in the NPP?", he queried.
The Finance Minister on Monday presented the mid-year fiscal policy review before Parliament highlighting some economic reforms laid out by the government to restore the economy.
He touched on various sectors of the economy and underscored the government's measures to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians.
But to Kwesi Pratt, the Minister still being in charge of the country's finances is problematic.
"Don't they realize that the mere fact that it is still Ken Ofori-Atta who is in charge and presenting the budget is a problem? It's a major hurdle for them, can't they realize that?", the seasoned Journalist further asked the NPP.

***barred word*** ***barred word*** Pratt, always hating on this government without any basis. On what grounds should the Finance Minister be dismissed?
Because he has not fully recouped his investment not to talk of the interest on his investment. Ghana may still owe him after he has left office in January, 2025 because he alone knows the interest on his investment.
Oh uncle Kwesi, wei de3 3nfa. The man is performing. Leave him alone, Massa.
He and his cousin the president called the bluff of those so-called MPs threatening to boycott government business. Ghana needs to clear out all those uzless mps(both ndc and npp). They couldn't even agree to remove an incompetent finance minister who ran the economy aground! What else can they do? Shocking to see people defending the performance of the finance minister by citing global economic turmoil. That argument is dead on arrival . How many of these economies have inflation at 60%? How many of these economies have their currency devalue by 100,%? How many of these economies gave haircuts on poor and retired pensioner's funds? How many of these economies are witnessing the unbridled corruption by government officials with ministers hoarding millions of dollars in their bedrooms? They should go ahead and defend this fuulishness and thiefvery as they have deliberately killed their conscience to the truth.Whilst it's ok to support your party it's not alright to kill your conscience to the truth. In those economies being cited ken ofori atta would have resigned by now without being told to do so. Let's speak the truth a little, Ghanaians.
why shouldn't he be at post!
Dan! I’m telling the truth you have no idea of what you saying. Mess up economy? You don’t know anything. Do you think only Ghana has hardship. You are just sitting Ghana Ghana and talking. Even Canada and U.S.A. we are facing hardship and you just sitting there and say mess up economy. You don’t understand what’s going on globally and global economy challenges and you talking like only Ghana have a problem. You totally messed up man. I don’t support Ken ofori Atta but nobody can change what’s going on global and economy. This Kwasi Pratt always talking against NPP and you think what he Akwasi Pratt saying is true or if they put him Kwasi Pratt in that position he do the work. You Dan and Kwasi Pratt don’t know what you guys are talking about.
Mr. Prat , please go and remove him and stop your infantile and shallow rantings on Ken Ofori Atta . Even Seth Tepey was not removed. I am sure in a Ghanaian so why talking , proceed and remove him yourself. Hypocrites at the highest peak
This is the most silly/***barred word*** question I have ever heard...is Pratt correct, and is he in Ghana? Is Ken not performing!
Well said, i doubt whether any reasonable person in the NPP however brilliant that person is will accept the post of finance minister one and half years for the presidents term of office to come to a close. Ofori Atta has messed up the economy,. Who ever wins the 2024 elections will have to use his first 4 year term to put the economy back on a found footing. The NPP has some of the finest and intelligent people in the system. Unfortunately, it is someone's personal interest against the national interest. Under former president Kufuor close to 98% of his ministers were reshuffled. Name them; Osafo Marfo, Kwodwo Baah Wiredu, Jake O. Lamptey, Kofi K. Apraku, Kwamena Bartels, Richard Anane, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Felix Owusu Agyapong, Papa Owusu Ankomah, Prof. Dominic Fobih, Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Major (rtd) Courage Quashigah, Akuffo Addo were all reshuffled. Today the actions and inactions of someone will make one to believe that President Kufuor made a mistake when he moved Akuffo Addo from the Attorney General & Justice ministry to the Foreign Affairs ministry. Under Kufuor MMDCE's were changed like never before. No wonder his government was so popular that after 8 years in office the new NPP presidential candidate got 49% lead in the first round of the 2008 general elections. This tells you the NPP was still the popular choice of Ghanaians after 8 years. The 2001 elephant had very big ears and listened a lot. Unfortunately the 2017 elephant also came in with very big ears but it doesn't listen, at best it hears but wont listen thus the current 'see-saw' the party is going through. Am NPP , i pity whoever will win the party's presidential primaries because that person has a double task, bringing back hopes in the ordinary NPP supporter to make sacrifices again and tackling the main opponent who has been provided with more than enough 'ammunition' to fire in 2024. That person has a lot of work paaaaa.
I shock sef sey this man still dey occupy that position
