Apostle Agyenim Boateng of the Peniel Outreach Ministries International has opposed the possibility of the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong becoming the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate.
The pastor has asserted that Agyapong's past actions, particularly his criticism of the Church of God, disqualifies him from being considered as the party's flagbearer.
Speaking via a television broadcast, he urged NPP delegates to carefully consider their choice for the presidential candidate and emphasized that only Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia can secure victory for the party in the upcoming elections in December 2024.
He highlighted the controversial moments when Agyapong publicly criticized the Church during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He recalled Agyapong's statements in which he suggested that, if he were president, he would "collapse all one-man churches in Ghana."
“When Covid came, a man that I respect so much, I respect him more than any other honorable in Ghana, Kennedy Agyapong I respect him more than any other men of God.
"But when Covid came, this same man rose up against the church thinking that he was disgracing the churches and he had the audacity to say that if he was president, he will collapse all one-man churches in Ghana and today the same man needs the church's vote.
"When you are talking be careful, I am telling you the only hope, and I am saying it today and again that the only hope for NPP is Dr. Bawumia, if not him the party will lose. If they get 38% then it means that God is not alive.
“The same man that rose up against the church and Ghana is a Christian country and this man rose up singlehandedly against the church claimed that if he was the head only Roman, Methodist, and Pentecost would be left and today the same man needs the same people to vote, you see how God is?”
During the COVID-19 era, the Assin Central Member of Parliament launched a crusade against various Ghanaian pastors whom he accused of being fake. Among them were prophet Nigel Gaisie, Prophet Badu Kobi, Obinim among others.
Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Addiah Nimoh.
The NPP has slated November 4, 2023, to elect a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as leader of the party.

Some of what he said about the some churches is true. One such fraudulent pastor is double-identity rev kusi of national cathedral fame. Such charlatanss parading as men of God. Anyway the Bible made provisions for them: "On the last day many will come saying they performed miracles and prophesied in my name and I will tell them: depart from me you evil generation!" Having said that Ken himself is not cleaner than the churches he condemns. How did he make his money that swells his head with arrogance and makes him denigrate everybody. He is a very corrupt on several fronts: financially and morally. He has littered the whole country with kids through his adulterous escapades , some of whom are drug addicts who he can not even control! He incited violence against a journalist who exposed corruption in football. Imagine the gear corruption will move to with Ken as president! Apuutooo!
I believe that the churches in Ghana need to be regulated, drawing on the aspirations and successes of Rwanda. The churches in Ghana have become business-oriented and have pushed ethics and moral education into the background. Today, many families in Ghana are broken or disintegrated because of false preaching of witchcraft and prophecy. It is therefore imperative that sanity be brought to the formation or establishment of churches in Ghana. Criteria must be set to regulate the churches so that light is shed on their core mandate of Christianity in the light of the ten commandments of the Gospel and religious studies. In this regard, I certainly support Ken, because the prevalence of corruption in Ghana requires a consensual moral and religious education, and therefore the churches of today are not doing much in this regard.
Is the Church above criticisms? Some of you are more corrupt than politicians. Extortions and even murder in some churches. Occultic leaders squeezing life from innocent members. What right therefore have you even to criticise others. Who were the churches attacked? Check that out. - salvation preaching churches or prosperity grabbing churches?
Apostle, come again, you call those 'wolfs' in sheep skin' men doing Gods work? Ken stood up against the evils of those so called 'men of God'. Those guys are evil, and so are their so called places of worship. Ken did, what society has failed to recognize and get ride of. Under Bawumia/Akuffo Addo, the economy of Ghana has sunken to an all time low in the 4th republic with such great suffering, and you mean God wants that to continue?
Ken exhibits character of self-aggrandizing. He is possessed by a self-centered spirit. Whatever thing he says or does is to deceive. He is full of himself and such a character is very dangerous to humanity. Remember what satan did to the angels of God. A word to delegates and ghanaians is enough. Beware ken is a wolf in sheepskin. He is a danger to himself and to others. Anyone who respects only money and looks down on others, has no business leading others. He himself needs to be led and controlled. Anyone who sets family against one another is dangerous. Ken is very dangerous to this nation.
Please, Please, Please, He was against some of the activities of the Churches, claiming that they have cure for COVID which was one of the dubious means use by these Churches to ABUSE individuals. Also, he is not seeking vote from the Church but, Ghanaians who may be part of your Church or not. I don't support Kenedy to become President or not but, please, stop throwing dust into the eyes of the public.
i am not supprise at all about the comment made by the said appostle. in anycase who is to tell the delegates who knows well waht is good and bad to decide for them who should lead the npp. what he the appostle is forgetting is that the delegates are are going to choose a leader for the party and push that person to lead the party in 2024. if someone speaks against what some you people calling yourselves preachers and yet using fowl means on your people and exposing the bad ones amoung you cannot be a president then you too wanting such peopel to be in that fraternity, then you are one them or?
He was against the bad deeds of the church and we respect him for that fight
This is total rubbish if some of the church is misbehaving no one should talk about it so that they should continue to hide under cover of Christ and do all manner of ***barred word***
look at this Apostle oooo. if He is not good then Bawumia is even worse for the nation.
