Member of the Socialist Forum Group (SFG) and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has expressed disappointment over the conflicts that have cropped up during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
Speaking as a regular panelist on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Tuesday, May 14, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. bemoaned the insensitivity of some politicians and political players over the confusion and wounds inflicted on persons who were going to write their names as first time voters during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
Kwesi Pratt’s displeasure comes in the wake of the recent disturbances that unfolded in the Ahafo region during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Reports gathered indicated that some individuals sustained various degrees of injuries. The casualties are currently receiving medical treatment.
Speaking to the issue that comes up every election year, the veteran journalist noted that, the perennial conflicts are fueled by some political figures who seem to have special interest in the elections.
“I am very sad. What I have seen so far is very disturbing and indicators point out to the leaders we have in this country. It is high time our leaders show Ghanaians some respect and understand that the election is not about being manipulative. We are going to vote for Ghana’s development so elections are ways Ghanaians can also express their views,” he opined.
