International Women’s Day, 8 March, celebrates women around the world. This year, Vlisco honours all inspiring women in Ghana during the entire month of March, kick started with an announcement of the 2016 Vlisco Ambassador for Ghana at a press briefing held today at the Vlisco Boutique in the Accra Mall.

This year’s theme, DREAMS COME TRUE, pays tribute to all African women with dreams, and especially those who dare to take the right steps to bring them to life.

The creative campaign

The photography and film of the campaign visualises the steps you need to take to make your dreams come true. It refers to a checkmate, which illustrates that you need a plan to reach your goal.

Vlisco Ambassador 2016

The Vlisco Women’s Month 2016 campaign has a different approach than before as there will be no voting element to elect a new ambassador. Instead, to kick start the month of activities Vlisco is excited to announce Regina Honu of Soronko Solutions, a software development powerhouse and social enterprise, as the new Vlisco Ambassador for Ghana.

Regina was chosen because of her powerful story of achieving her dream and finding incredible success in her field as well as her passion for building up and empowering young women to also identify and achieve their own dreams. She represents the brand by daring every woman to choose the path less traveled and to be unafraid of being unique and expressing their individuality.

During the month of March, Regina will be sharing her inspirational story via multiple platforms including the media and various speaking engagements including visiting the educational institutions she attended.

Also from March and throughout the year, she will be traveling to five regions in Ghana visiting Universities to engage with women studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

These women will be enrolled in Soronko’s mentorship program where they will develop more practical technology skills all with the aim of inspiring young women and breaking down stereotypes that tell women technology is just for boys! The celebration also continues the whole month of March on dream.vlisco.com!
