The main awards night of the 16th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is scheduled to be held on April 11, 2015, but before that, the VGMA Industry Awards was held last night, April 6, 2015 inside Ridge Arena, Alisa Hotel Accra.

The event which came with a three course dinner brought together technical brains, nominees from the ten industry categories, the media, VGMA board member, academy members among others.

The event hosted by George Quaye and Bella of GH One Entertainmet Television begun with a performance by Gospel sensation Emelia Arthur and followed by singers Efya, Raquel and Reggae act Ras Kuuku who was tagged as the best performance on the night as well as veteran Highlife musician, Nana Ampadu who won the lifetime achievement award and performance his ever popular hit song “Obra”.

Some of influential stakeholders in the music industry who graced the occasion included,Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Hon. Dzifa Gomashie,  MUSIGA President Obour,  former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) – Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Producer Zabb Mallet, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Obrafour,

Evangelist Diana Asamoah’s ‘Pentecost Asorendwom’ was voted by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Board and Academy ahead of albums from Gifty Osei, Selina Boateng and No Tribe to win the Gospel Album of the Year nod.

Koda picked the Record of the Year with his ‘Nkwa Aboodo’.

Wiyaala who is currently in Morocco to record a song picked the Songwriter of the Year accolade for her song “Africa”. Black Avenue Musiz resident producer, DJ Breezy won the Producer of the Year for producing Castro’s ‘Seihor’ featuring D-Black.

Sound Engineer of the Year went to George Forest whiles King Ayisoba picked the Traditional Artiste of the Year nod. This year’s Music For Development sponsored by the World Bank went to “Save A Heart” by Gospel musician, Nii Okai.

Other winners on the night included Frank Kissi as Instrumentalist of the Year, J.V. Owusu for MUSIGA Merit Award.
