Nick Cannon is partnering with Atlantic Records to launch a worldwide search for three talented girls to form an all-girl group like The Pussycat Dolls.
Instead of bringing R&B and dance music however, the new band will lean more into rock genre. The group will be based on Archie Comics characters, Jossie and the Pussycats, which Nick dubbed as "the first rock 'n' roll girls group."
Not only pursuing a music career, the band are also scheduled to make appearances on the small screen as Nick hopes the search will yield a reality series and a scripted dramedy, both of which are to air on Nickelodeon's TeenNick channel where he serves as a chairman.
In addition to the talent search, Nick Cannon who just launched a production company NCredible Entertainment will also team up with Nickelodeon to premiere a self-directed and -written TV movie "The School Gyrls" on February 21, 2010. The film will boast guest appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy, Angie Stone, Pete Wentz and many others.
"For me, the movie has an appeal like 'Glee'," Nick told The New York Post about the forthcoming movie. "It has that poppy look but it's a way to do a young teen musical that's a little hipper than the ones you may have seen." On top of those all, Nick will launch a School Gyrls comic book series, partnering with Archie Comics.
