It probably came as a big shock to her when her boyfriend fathered a child through a surrogate last summer.
But having had a year to adjust to to the new addition in her and Cristiano Ronaldo's life, Irina Shayk appears to have fallen into her role as stepmother rather nicely.
The Russian model was snapped sitting in the stands at the Bernabu Stadium with baby Cristiano Jnr sitting on her lap.Joined by Snr's mother Dolores Aveiro, they were there the cheer on the footballer as his team Real Madrid beat rivals Getafe FC 4-2.
But while all the action was happening on the pitch, Irina's attention was focused on the cute little boy, who happily sat on her lap throughout the game.
And she looked like a complete natural as she played and talked to the toddler, who played with her phone and cheered on his daddy. He was also probably the best dressed baby in the city in his white trousers, a 176 checked Gucci shirt and 132 white Gucci trainers.
In July last year, Ronaldo announced that he had become a father to a baby boy by a surrogate mother.
On his Facebook page, he wrote: 'It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy.'As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship.'
At the time, Irina was said to be devastated by the news, she knew nothing of the birth and had been left in tears by her boyfriend's announcement.
But her spokesman denied she had said anything of the sort, and said: 'They're trying to create a relationship.'A relationship that is still going strong 18 months after they met, so much so that earlier this month, they were the centre of engagement rumours.
But although neither of them have made an announcement, micro-blogging site Tumblr quoted a friend of the couple saying: 'Cristiano has always said he wanted to marry one day and he seems very happy with Irina. We were anticipating this sooner or later.'
