The maiden edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) came over the weekend on Saturday March 9, 2013 at the plush Eco Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.
The glamorous event brought together Television and movie stars from all over the African continent to be celebrated.
As usual the Nollywood stars took over the night with their numbers and won the most awards, however Ghana was not left out. Out of several nominated Ghana�s lone ranger, Jackie Appiah was the only one who won an award for Ghana as �Best Actress� in the whole of Africa.
Jackie Appiah was nominated for Best Actress (Drama) for her role in �Perfect Picture� alongside other top African stars including Bubu Mazibuko, Genevieve Nnaji, Nolwazi Shange and Funke Akindele.
Other nominees and entire contingents from Ghana including: Producer/Director Shirley Frimpong Manso, Ken Attoh, Nadia Buari, Majid Michel, Joselyn Dumas, Socrate Safo, Roger Quatey among others supported Jackie Appiah and congratulated her for saving the face of Ghana on the night.
Some familiar Nollywood faces spotted at the event include: Omotola, Genevieve Nnaji, Bob Manuel, Zack Orji, Stephanie Okereke, Aki, Jim Iyke, Rita Dominic, Big Brother Amplified winner Karen, Chidi Mokeme among others.
