The Coca-Cola Company, Ghana in partnership with Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe has distributed over 2,000 shoes to schools in the three Northern regions of Ghana.

This was part of the launch of the Kalsoume Sinare Foundation as well as the commencement of Coca-Cola’s 5 by 20 Women’s Economic Empowerment programme in the North.

Kalsoume, who hails from Gambaga and Paga in the North, expressed her gratitude to Coca-Cola for the opportunity to return to her roots and give back to needy children in the North. Her foundation focuses on humanitarian services to the underprivileged while the Coca-Cola Company’s 5 by 20 initiative aims at empowering five million women within the company’s global footprint by 2020 with basic entrepreneurial skills training, access to peer and mentor networks and access to credit.

Credit support will be provided by UT Bank under its Strategies Towards Reaching And Assisting Women (STRAW) partnership with Coca-Cola.

Over 1,000 women across the three Northern Regions have signed up to benefit from the programme.

The journey, led by the Head of Public Affairs and Communications for Coca-Cola Equatorial Africa, Madam Ama Bawuah, started in Tamale and moved to Bawku, Bolgatanga, Paga and Wa with distribution of shoes to needy school children in schools including Tamale Methodist Apkema, Guunayili, Anwar-Dua, Bawku Nayoko, Mount Sinai, Pingo-Nabango, Sirigu, Jujedayri and Wechiau.

Kalsoume, interacting with the children who were very excited to meet the actress, promised to make sure that children in deprived communities who could not afford to be in school due to lack of educational materials, uniforms and shoes were supported by her foundation.
