Hiplife legend, Reggie Rockstone has expressed his appreciation to artistes in Kumasi for their efforts in making sure the region gets on the map as far as music is concerned.

His commendation comes in after some artistes from Kumasi made the region proud during the just ended Tigo Unplugged concert in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which Reggie himself took part in an interview on Kessben fm with DJ Roar.

The "Dogo Yaro" hitmakers member however mentioned some artistes who have been making the region proud with good music and also urged them to do more to survive music from Kumasi.

"In fact, let me thank my guys in Kumasi for making me proud at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium the last time. I want to give a special shutout to some of the respected artistes in Kumasi. First of all, Cabum, respect. Flowking Stone, Strongman respect. If I don't know your name please forgive me and respect to you all."

The Grandfather of Hiplife music continued to rubbish the claim that it is only in Accra that an artistes will find greener pastures.

"Another thing is that everyone thinks that you can only be successful when you conquer Accra. I don't think so. You can be a star in your own jurisdiction. You can be based in Kumasi and still eat and walk with pride and eventually the whole world will hear you. But don't use Accra as your barometer of success. Please don't. In fact you have a bigger monopoly because you have a bigger crowd which you are not sharing with no one."

Reggie Rockstone is one of the biggest brains behind the origin of Hiplife music in Ghana and he also happens to be from Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.
