Participants of an ongoing workshop on music business on Tuesday visited the offices of Zylofon Media, an entertainment conglomerate in Accra, to acquaint themselves with activities of the company.

The group, made up of young musicians, promoters, festival/ event organisers and public relations practitioners from Germany, Spain, Ghana and the UK, were taken round the offices, recording studios and radio station by Sammy Baah, PRO of the Zylofon Media.

He explained the strategies employed by the organisation to ensure high standards in the Ghanaian art industry by signing established artistes and grooming up and coming ones through a project dubbed ‘Ghana Art Club’. During a stop at the recording studio, which is manned by Ghanaian musician/ engineer Willie Roy, two of the participants — Megan Louise Clifton (United Kingdom) and Brythe Addo (Ghana) — laid down some vocals.

Zylofon Media plans to produce indigenous artistes and artworks that would fit universal standards. These would cover a broad spectrum of the creative arts industry that will span from highlife, hip-life, jazz, contemporary Christian music, dancehall, reggae, rock, among others.

European Union’s Erasmus+ Project, Goethe-Institut Ghana, Fundacion Sgae Espanola and the Alliance Française in Accra are sponsoring the workshop, which is being organised by Akwaaba Music.
