Father of late dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns, Nana Opoku Kwarteng has revealed that it felt like hell watching other female musicians perform his daughter’s songs at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to him, it was difficult standing the pain while the performances were ongoing but he managed to stand it somehow.
“It was like I was in hell, it wasn’t easy. I managed my way to stand the test of that time”, he said.
Some selected female musicians, MzVee, Akosua Agyapong, Adina and Efya performed some of Ebony’s songs at the 2018 VGMA in her honour.
Dressed in all white attires, they performed a rendition of Ebony’s hit tracks like ‘Date Ur Fada’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Sponsor’ and ‘Maame hwe’.
Speaking about the act on Hitz FM, Mr. Kwarteng said that he felt his daughter’s presence at the auditorium whiles the ladies performed.
“I could feel my girl around me but I couldn’t touch her”, he said sorrowfully.
He also expressed his excitement that her daughter won the ultimate award, “Artist of the Year”.
He said he was optimistic that Ebony was going to win the ultimate, looking at the hard work she did in the year under review before her untimely demise.
The father of the ‘Poison’ hit maker further congratulated the other nominees who contested with her daughter and described them as well deserving artistes.
“All the nominees were equally powerful so I wouldn’t have gone mad if someone else had won”, he noted.
