Countdown to New Year 2019 is on; approximately 28 days, 9 hours and 40 minutes left for the year 2018 to elapse.

Okay FM, one of the leading radio stations of Despite Group of Companies, as part of measures to climax its 8th year anniversary, is bringing something new, more exciting and engaging to its listeners on boxing day to mark the festive season.

Dubbed Okay FM’s “People’s Choice Awards”, the station is looking for one great influential celebrity in the country, at the request of its cherished listeners.

The “People’s Choice Awards” is aimed at celebrating characters with a strong people’s appeal, that is to say; a particular individual who fascinated Ghanaians the most this year.

It will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Junction Mall.

The year 2018 cannot pass away without some fond memories. It’s been fun, excitement and twists and turns in the entertainment circles.

The country’s entertainment industry has seen lots of interesting characters and unforgettable happenings.

One can talk of characters like musicians Shatta Wale, Patapaa and Comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger to religious leaders like Angel Daniel Obinim, Rev. Obofour, and Counselors such as George Lutterodt among others who have all together put smiles on the faces of many Ghanaians, particularly entertainment fanatics.

Do you remember the video showing the genital organ of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and his infamous “blow job” incident on Instagram that took Ghanaians by surprise? Well, he denied his involvement in those acts. What about Patapaa’s “One Corner” craze that swept the internet like a tornado and his sudden name change to Patapeezy?

Do you also recall the uncensored rant and rave by Afia Schwarzenegger on the Chief Executive Officer of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM 1), after the gold firm was shut down by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) following several warnings by the Bank of Ghana to Ghanaians not to invest in Menzgold?

Afia Schwarzenegger blasted NAM 1, claiming her mother had invested huge sums of money in Menzgold and calling for an immediate refund.

What about the two religious giants in the heart of Ashanti Region, specifically Kumasi? Talking about Angel Obinim and Rev. Obofour!

What intrigues you about these two Pastors? Is it the moment Angel Obinim dared to fly to heaven but his wings were clipped by his church members who refused to allow him to join his fellow celestial beings or the ostentatious display of opulence by Rev. Obofour?

If you remember any of these incidents, then you might as well agree that all these characters have indeed made impressions on the nation.

A few names have therefore been shortlisted for listeners of Okay FM to vote for their favourite character to pick the 2018 People’s Choice Award.
