Prominent media personality, Bridget Otoo, has offered an apology to the Roman Catholic Church of Ghana for suggesting that its priests should be permitted to marry.
She explained that her opinion stemmed from the fact that some Catholic priests are fond of sodomizing young boys at the altar in their quest to satisfy their desires.
Bridget Otoo also disclosed that the priests have been raping women and having multiple children which the church is aware of yet, it has turned a blind eye these acts.
“Can we Catholics also copy others and let our priests marry instead of the immoral lives they are living? Having children, some raping women and sodomizing innocent boys at the altar? That’s not Christlike," Bridget Otoo said as she sparked controversy.
The comment did not sit well with some people who took to her X page to express their displeasure over her remarks.
After a few minutes, Bridget Otoo backtracked on her words and apologized for making such a suggestion but stressed the need for the Catholic church to treat the matter with urgency.
“I’m sorry for suggesting that Catholic priests be allowed to marry, I was trying to be kind. If they won’t change their pedophilic, sodomizing young boys at the alter, raping women and having multiple children all over with the church covering it, I suggest we castrate them,” she wrote on her X page.
Catholic priests being allowed to marry has been a concern that has been raised by some individuals but it has not been given the needed attention by the authorities of the church.

I'm not a Catholic but I deem this lose comment as an affront to Christianity. There is nothing wrong with a priest refraining from marriage and dedicating their whole being for kingdom business, albeit there's also nothing wrong to properly call on the catholic church with good intentions to review practices that are necessarily not core doctrinal issues. But for this lady to generalise an offence of a few to be the offence of all and say such in a ridiculous manner, shows how little minded she's or diabolical she's. Should we then say journalists in Ghana are shallow minded or diabolic because of what she has shown to us? For all you know, she has no evidence or of any of these acts being committed by any "priest".
Dze wo fia asem.
I wonder how such an empty head is behind a microphone 🎤. God help us🙏🏿
This girl speaks anyhow. Is she saying we don't have married men (married pastors) who though married commits some of crimes she is labelling against the Catholic priest? There are bad nuts in every profession including journalism. Crime must be dealt with and not put a particular group in one basket and hung them. Bridget always hide behind journalism to insult personalities and everyone is quiet on her, but if they react then we will hear all the groups coming out.
Her comments following the apology are even more scathing. She sees priests as objects and she just lumped all of them together for collective guilt. I wonder why such shallow-minded people are so loud on topics they can't wrap their fickle minds around. To say this about priests without distinguishing between the bad nuts and good ones is unfair. There are some priests who should be in prison for the wrongs they have done but there are also priests who are a blessing to society and Fr Andrew Campbell readily comes to mind. He gives comfort to lepers who some people would not even touch with a long stick. Their families have treated them as outcasts and Fr Campbell came to their rescue .It is horrible to lump such a priest with the bad nuts and say such mean things about priests.
