150 golfers to compete for Tigo Tema Open trophy

All is set for this yearís Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship scheduled for the Tema Country Golf Course from Saturday, September 5 to Sunday, September 6.

About 150 amateur and professional golfers throughout the country are expected to participate in the two-day Scratch event which is being sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited.

Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Club told GNA Sports at Tema that the competition which would be played in accordance with the rules of the World Golf governing body has Handicap 18 and 28 respectively as the entry requirements.

He said all the necessary preparations had been completed for the competition and that a keen competition was anticipated.

Leonard Kweku Okyere would lead the Tema team which would include Felix Owusu-Adjapong, William Asiedu-Yeboah, Alex Fiagomey and Paul Owusu-Baah.

Celebrity Golf Club would also present crack players including Ebo Da-Costa, Pierre Coussey, M. K. Osei, Oswald Amuzu and Akwasi Opoku.

The professional golfers would engage each other in a hectic four-day 72-Hole event ending on Saturday, September 5.

Seven prizes would be awarded in the Menís event while four would be given in the Ladies category.

Mr Rashid Pelpuo, acting Minister of Youth and Sports and Mr Tismark Inja, Board Chairman of Millicom Ghana Limited, are expected to grace the occasion.
