The agenda of some elements within the ruling National Democratic Congress to kick out President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, using all manner of ways seems to be in full swing after two leading members of the Party, Joseph Kwabena Ade Coker and Harry Zarkour openly declared their intentions in a forum organised a fortnight ago.
Indications are that the forum organised by the new Minister of Sports was just a first step in the agenda to get rid of Kwesi Nyantakyi at the Football Association.
This move was indeed given credence by Mr. Kofi Manu, a football administrator and a leading member of the NDC in the Brong Ahafo Region and former Consul General to Cameroon under the Presidency of Jerry John Rawlings who in an interview with Asempa FM on Tuesday intimated that the supposed forum of eminent football persons was nothing but a coup scheme by those who want to use the NDC to get rid of Kwesi Nayantakyi at the GFA.
He opined for example that if the orchestrators of the agenda were not in a rush to fast forward their plans, they would have allowed the Management Technical Team and the Ministry of Sports to present individual reports on the issues surrounding the poor showing of the Black Stars before they organised a forum to review it.
He explained that because they are in a rush to prosecute their agenda, they hurriedly organised the forum during which open declarations to the extent that Kwesi Nyantekyi will be kicked out were made.
The Ministry is not Ministry of Black Stars, it is Ministry of Sports; we have commonwealth games to go to, are we thinking about it? On the same Friday when they were organising the retreat, the ministry claimed it didnt have money for the Black Princesses who were going to the world cup so the FA had to look for money for them but it had money to organise this retreat. At the retreat, Mr Harry Zarkour for example vowed that because Kwesi is a small boy, he will get him out, is that a retreat or a forum? It clearly shows their agenda for organising that forum. I am 59 years but the President of the Republic is 54 years, however, I support him, so where from that?
Signals picked up by this paper indicate that these forces within the ruling government and their agents at the GFA are trying all they can to get the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports into a direct confrontation with the FA so they could effectively prosecute their agenda.
Again, these forces are said to be holding regular meetings with various journalists and other football related persons to further their agenda. Some of these meetings are held at the Harry Zarkour owned Bus stop, according to information available to GO.
From the information available to this paper, these persons are also trying to get some opposition elements and groups to join their campaign to get rid of Nyantakyi as it is their belief that a sustained media and public relations offensive will weaken the FA Boss and frustrate him to resign or cause the Congress of the GFA to vote him out as President.
In an interesting twist however, National Organiser of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan, in an interview with Accra based Hot FM on Thursday, cautioned those using the NDC to harass the GFA and initiate their selfish agendas to take control of the FA to put a stop to their activities.
