Kumasi Asante Kotoko owe former Chief executive Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong and other directors a colossal sum of Gh¢637,000, says Kwame Baah-Nuako, a former board member.
Two years after taking a bow, speculations were rife about the ex-Kotoko boss’s alleged lack of transparency in his financial dealings with the club.
But Baah-Nuako pointed out that the reverse was the case, stating that the Porcupine Warriors rather owed Dr Sarpong and some directors of the club, daring the Porcupine Warriors to produce their audited accounts.
He rubbished claims that there was no proper audited accounts during the Dr Sarpong’s regime and maintained that Asamoah Bonsu & Co. were mandated to audit Kotoko’s accounts which was conducted religiously annually.
According to Baah- Nuako, in the handing over notes of the former TOR boss, he outlined player sales and sponsorship deals among others.
“It is sad when you hear statements like Dr Sarpong embezzled Kotoko funds while in office and the perception that they are auditing Kotoko’s accounts is neither here nor there.
“He resigned based on certain things that were going on in the club and two years down the line, he has requested for the audited accounts, yet he has not seen it. Kotoko rather owe him and not the other way round,” he said on Hot FM.
