Mr Isaac Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports has said, he is confident Ghana would be winning more medals very soon at international games.

Mr. Asiamah, who attributed Ghana’s failure to win medals at international games to lack of investments in sports and inadequate infrastructure, however noted that, the challenge was over.

He said the ministry has identified the problem and is solving it through the construction of multipurpose state of the art Youth Resource Centres across the country.

The minister said this after the final sod cutting for the construction of the Youth Resource Center in Yendi in the Northern Region.

"I have brought creativity to the ministry. Ghanaians would see the importance of this in the future. The medals don’t come by chance. It is long term planning and proper investment. So the ten centers would get state of the art equipment in sports and youth infrastructure.

“That is how to improve sports. I thank God for giving us this direction and with the decision of the National Youth Authority to invest in sports infrastructure, we hope to secure more medals in future international games.

“Over the years no minister has seen the need to invest in infrastructure, but I have decided to go this way to prepare for the future.

"The facilities would help to harness talents because we have the talents."

Ghanaians won one medal (bronze) at the just ended Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The facilities across the ten regions of the county would be completed in exactly nine months.
