Adom TV’s Fire 4 Fire presenter, Countryman Songo has opened up on how he felt when news broke that the former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi had resigned as Ghana Football Association (GFA) president.

Mr Nyantakyi resigned as GFA’s president on June 8, 2018, after a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Association.

Songo who was speaking on Hitz FM Tuesday revealed he wasn’t happy about the subsequent dissolution of the GFA.

According to him, he will not jubilate over Nyantakyi’s “downfall” even though he disagreed with him in his line of work.

“I want Ghana football to go forward. I want it to rise up again. You shouldn’t be happy for someone’s downfall. I wasn’t brought up like that. You have got to let a brother get up. Mine is, football should develop. We should be back to when we were winning trophies; that is what I am looking up for now…” he said.

Kwesi Nyantakyi resigned as head of the Ghana Football Association following an expose by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in which the FA president was seen allegedly taking a bribe among other things.

Since the release of the documentary, a section of Ghanaians have described it as a vindication of Countryman Songo’s position on Mr Nyantakyi but Songo has refused to take that credit.

Songo has, on numerous occasions, accused the former GFA president of failing to promote sports in the country.
