Kevin-Prince Boateng remains disappointed to have missed out on Ghana's squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Angola as he awaits the completion of his nationality switch.

The midfielder insists he has no regrets about choosing to represent Ghana over Germany, for whom he played at youth level. "Ghana is definitely my future, 100%. I want to play for the Black Stars," he insisted.

Despite the Ghana Football Association providing proof of his father's roots, the 22-year-old midfielder's registration could still not be ratified in time by FIFA, thereby making him ineligible to be used by Ghana for now.

"I'm not unhappy that I'm not there [African Cup of Nations]," he said. "It would just be unbelievable to be playing there for Ghana but it looks now that I won't be going so I'm just happy to try to keep Portsmouth up."

But Boateng has now set his sights on making his international debut for Ghana at next year's World Cup in South Africa. He admits that he has to continue playing well for Portsmouth to make the Ghana squad. "If I keep going and play well for Portsmouth and we stay up, I think there's a big chance for me to go to the World Cup."
