Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng claims striker Asamoah Gyan is irreplaceable and wants him return to the national team earlier than expected.
The Al Ain attacker shocked football fans by calling temporal time on his international career after coming in for heavy criticism following his penalty miss against Zambia in the semi-finals of the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
He will miss the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia and the Dnipro enforcer has reiterated the significance of the on-loan Sunderland attacker to the Black Stars.
He (Gyan) is irreplaceable. We must continue to talk to him to ensure he returns to the national team, Boateng said
His absence has created a big hole. I have been talking to him behind the scenes and there are positives signs that shows he will come back to the team sooner rather than later,
Gyan has rediscovered his confidence by netting 22 times for Al Ain to win the Golden Boot in his debut season in the Gulf.
