Ex-Ghana FA vice president Fred Pappoe feels gutted by the decision of the Ayew brothers to retire temporarily from the Black Stars but insists there is a window of opportunity for them to return to the team.

Andre and Jordan have asked the Ghana FA not to consider them for future call-ups for varied reasons.

Andre cited a strained relationship with the management committee members of the team as his chief reason while Jordan wants his position in the team secured before he makes a return.

The duo feels their efforts have not been appreciated by authorities and wants to take a break and return as better players to serve their nation.

The former Black Stars management committee chairman Fred Pappoe has expressed his disappointments with the turn of events but remains confident the two parties can piece up their differences.

“It’s disappointing but the good news is that there is no definite timeline for those letters,” Pappoe told Radio XYZ

“The indefinite can be one to two days, two weeks, four or five years.

“There is a window of opportunity for the two gentlemen to come back to the national team.

“In both letters you could see a clear indication and willingness on their part to come back.

“I think personally the situation is not gloomy as one would have expected us to believe and that’s quite hopeful.

“We should shorten the time that they are seeking so that at end of the day we’ll all end up in a win-win situation.

The decision of the Marseille stars have ignited massive debate in the West African country with opinions sharply divided among soccer fans.

Andre was dropped from the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after a disagreement over his reporting time while Jordan was simply not deemed good enough to be in the team.
