AshantiGold went ahead three minutes before recess through Safiu Mumuni who connected Francis Coffie's cross.
Lions leveled in the 58th minute when Bernard Morrison's shot in the vital area beat goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.
However, Mohammed Yakubu restored the Miners' lead when he connected home Alhaji Sani's pass in the 61st minute, and went on to register his second of the day six minutes later when his free kick at the edge of the penalty area beat goalkeeper Stephen Ahorlu.
Lions reduced the tally through a spot kick effected by Kweku Andoh after he was fouled in the box in the 79th minute.
