President John Dramani Mahama has expressed joy for the brilliant performance exhibited by Ghanas Under-20 despite not reaching the finals of the on-going FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Ghana's hope of a final place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup were ended on Wednesday as the Black Satellites lost 2-1 to France on Wednesday.
But President Mahama on his Facebook wall said he is proud of the twinkle, twinkle black satellites for their performance after struggling from the group stages.
The Black Satellites may not have fulfilled our dream of seeing them in the finals but I'm proud of them for holding high the flag of #Ghana, he posted on his Facebook wall moments after the match.
The Black Satellites, who were chasing a fourth final appearance at the competition rallied from a goal down as Ebenezer Assifuah equalised two minutes after the start of the second half after Thauvin had given the French a first half lead.
After a string of second half misses, Ghana, World Cup winners in 2009 were undone when Thauvin found the near post in the 74th minute, beating substitute goalkeeper Michael Sai, who came on for the injured Eric Antwi.
Ghana will now play Iraq or Uruguay for third place on Sunday as France reach their first ever final.
