Ghana’s Ambassador to Egypt His Excellency Alhaji Said Sinare claims the Black Stars and fans will be safe in Cairo for next month’s World Cup playoff return leg.

FIFA approved the Egyptian capital was safe to host the deciding qualifier on Wednesday after studying a comprehensive security programme by the Egyptian government.

CAF’s decision to allow club side Al Ahly to play their Champions League final first leg against Orlando Pirates on 9 November also convinced the world football governing body.

“The security situation in Cairo has kind of improved a little bit, not too much, but we still have to be cautious in what we do,” Sinare told Joy FM. “But we will make sure we give the maximum security the Black Stars deserve and the Ghanaians supporters as well.”

Ambassador Sinare says Ghana’s mission will still hold talks with Egyptian authorities to ensure the safety of the contingent. “We are beginning to have some kind of a series of meetings which will start tomorrow with the aim of getting the necessary guarantees that we will need from the Egyptian government to make sure our players and supporters are safe,” he added.

“We are going to do our best to make sure those guarantees are there. This is it soo far.” The match will be played at the 30,000 capacity Air Defense Stadium in Cairo to host the second leg match against Ghana.
