The midfielder says he is “looking forward to going to the World Cup” in Brazil and believes the west Africans will excel “in a very difficult group”.

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is buoyant about the Black Stars’ success at the 2014 World Cup, despite being placed in a “very difficult group.”

The ‘Bison’ told the Italian press on Tuesday that the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists are poised to continue from where they left off during the last edition of the global football fiesta in South Africa.

“Well I’m looking forward to going to the World Cup with my country and we will see what happens,” the newly signed AC Milan midfielder stated at a press conference to unveil him.

“We are in a very difficult group but in football you never know what is going to happen. We will go there and give everything and see what will happen,” the former Chelsea player said.

Ghana have been drawn in the same group with the USA, Germany and Portugal and will face the Stars and Stripes in their opening game in Natal.
