Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was emotional on Saturday when he scored in the Russian league and decided to dedicate the goal to his departed four-month old baby boy.
Wakasos son, also called Mubarak Wakaso died of an unknown sickness in early January and was buried in the Ghanaian neighbourhood of Tamale.
Wakaso scored the opener in the 23 minute for his Rubin Kazan side as they won comfortably in the away game against Krylya Sovetov Samara in the Russian league but the merriment turned gloomy when the midfielder remembered his four-month old baby who passed on exactly four months ago.
The former Villareal midfielder has not scored since the loss of his baby boy and thought Saturday was the right moment to pay a soul-stirring tribute to his son.
Wakasu posted an image of his prostrate goal celebration on Facebook and wrote "'Goal is very important.I dedicate it to my son. Saturday, the happiest since he passed away,".
Wakasu has been named in Ghana's 26-man provisional squad for the World Cup which was announced on Monday
