Former chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, says the GFA committed a serious blunder when it handed the Black Stars to Avram Grant few weeks before the 2015 AFCON.

He contended in an interview with the Graphic Sports in Accra last Monday that the most prudent decision would have been to allow Maxwell Konadu to continue as coach of the team to enable Grant observe the team from the sidelines before taking over.

“It’s clear that Grant does not know the team very well because he had very little time to appreciate some details about the team which are very crucial for managing a team like the Black Stars.

“For me the time between his appointment and the kick-off of the AFCON was very short and the most prudent thing was to allow Maxwell to continue since he was the man who led the team to qualify for the AFCON

Don’t forget the fact that he has been around with the boys as an assistant coach for two years. Experience has shown that players are comfortable with coaches who stay longer with them”, he added.

Nyaho, who is also a director of Accra Hearts of Oak, urged Grant to listen to Konadu since he knew the team better than him.
