Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga has confirmed that Ghana is lobbying to host the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON)
There were reports in the media that Ghana is among four countries shortlisted by CAF to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The other three countries are Algeria, Egypt and Gabon.
Ghana hosted in 2008 and co-hosted with Nigeria in 2000.
The Minister told Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Kokrokoo Wednesday that an 11-member committee has already been set to work in ensuring that Ghana wins the bid.
I am also lobbying for Ghana to host AFCON 2017 and so every gathering where executive committee members of CAF are in attendance, I have to take advantage and get there and push our case for 2017.
"We have even formed a committee and we are working feverishly towards it and most of the time that I was in Equitorial Guinea during the tournament while the players were playing the ball, I was busy lobbying also with the executive committee members, meeting them one on one and pressing home our case for hosting the tournament in 2017,ďż˝ he indicated.
