Reigning Africa footballer of the Year and Manchester City superstar Yaya Touré has revealed that he might consider retiring from international football after achieving all his desired successes with the Ivory Coast.

The Manchester City’s midfielder earned more than 100 caps with the Elephants since making his international debut in 2004.

He has appeared in six Africa Cup of Nations’ finals and three FIFA World Cup and leading Côte d’Ivoire to continental glory in Equatorial Guinea in February 2015.

“I think now my target is done,” the 31-year-old told BBC ahead of their 1-1 draw in Abidjan with Equatorial Guinea, in the final encounter of their FIFA window’s friendly campaign.

“I want to wait a couple of days for what I will decide for my future.

“The time for the youngsters will come soon and we need to let them go on alone.”

Should the former Barcelona ace decide to hang up his Ivoirian boots, he will follow in the footsteps of brother Kolo and former ASEC Academy teammate Copa Barry who both announced their retirement in the aftermaths of their AFCON success.
