The Ghanaian midfielder was sent off as Udinese fell at home to Inter Milan in Serie A.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu failed to build on his fine goal-scoring performance for Udinese at the weekend as he was dismissed against Inter Milan.

The Bianconeri secured an unexpected victory over AC Milan at the weekend, but were unable to repeat the trick against Inter, losing 2-1 in Serie A.

Ghana international Agyemang-Badu went from hero to zero at Stadio Friuli, and having scored the second (and ultimately decisive) goal for Andrea Stramaccioni’s side at the weekend, he arguably cost his teammates against Inter.

The visitors enjoyed the best of the action—managing 62.4 percent of possession—but despite the dismissal of defender Maurizio Domizzi in the first half, the contest remained goalless.

Inter broken Udinese’s resolve after the break when Mauro Icardi fired home from the penalty spot when Danilo fouled Mateo Kovacic.

The home side immediately hit back, and were level two minutes later when the evergreen Antonio Di Natalie struck an equaliser.

At this point, there was a sense that Udinese could push on and claim something from the match, and perhaps even press their illustrious rivals for an against-the-odds victory.

Any momentum they might have had was lost on 58 minutes when the irresponsible Badu—having just been booked for a foul—argued voraciously with the referee and was shown a second yellow.

With a one-man disadvantage, Udinese might have pulled off a surprise, but being two men down proved to be too much.

Lukas Podolski ultimately settled the match, firing home a fine goal only seven minutes after Badu had been dismissed.

The Ghanaian played in the left midfield spot in the Udine side’s 4-3-1-2 formation. Defeat leaves them 13th in the Serie A table, having accrued 38 points from their 33 matches to date.
