Liberty Professionals goalkeeper Daniel Adjei believes he is better than some of the Black Stars goal keepers and deserves to be playing in the national team.

The 2009 Under-20 World Cup winner said he had the right exposure and experience after participating in the tournament in Egypt and should have been the number goalkeeper after Richard Kingston.

Speaking on GTV’s Sportlite programme on Wednesday, he stated that “I am better than some of the goalkeepers called into the Black Stars currently.”

He added that, after being second to Kingston in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he had received the exposure needed to become the number one for the nation.

According to him, he has also not received much playing time with the Black Stars though he deserved to play as his quality is undoubted.

“I do not know why I did not get playing time with the Black Stars as I have proved that I have the quality and exposure needed for that platform,” he stated.

Though he occasionally questioned why he was not allowed to man the post of the Black Stars, he is often told his time would come.

“I am often told that I am a good goalkeeper but should be patient as my time would come but it seems there are separate ideas,” he stressed.

He is hopeful that he would some day be recognised and given the opportunity to help the Black Stars win laurels.

Adjei, after helping Ghana to win the Under-20 World Cup for the first time, had some stints outside the country but returned to play for Liberty Professionals, his old club.
