The Real Madrid forward breaks his own jointly held record to net double figures in a single season of the competition's first round, netting a hat-trick against Malmo.
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player to score 10 goals in the group stage of a Champions League campaign.
The Portugal international achieved the feat with his third goal as his side put Malmo to the sword on Tuesday and netted a fourth soon afterwards.
Ronaldo was previously the joint holder of the record with nine, alongside Luiz Adriano, but now becomes the outright leader as he top-scores in the group stage for the fifth time - also a record that no other player can match.
In scoring the 50th-minute goal that took him over the record, Ronaldo followed up earlier strikes in the 37th and 47th minutes for an 11-minute blitz, the fastest hat-trick that any Madrid player has scored in Europe since 1968.
He then followed it up with a fourth just eight minutes later.
