President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi, has stated that Ghana is bigger than anybody’s personal interest and the country must be supported first.
“The fact that you obtain a higher office does not mean you should misuse that office for your personal selfish interest,” He said in an interview with Utv's Romeo Oduro, a couple of days after winning the FIFA Executive Council role election.
According to him, anyone working for the nation must have the state's interest at heart first before other considerations.
“Ghana must come first before one’s personal interest. Whether you like somebody or not it has nothing to do with nation, Ghana is bigger than anybody’s personal interest of any individual and so we must see Ghana as a country.”
“If you decide to add your personal interest to your official duties or work you will be doing a great disservice to yourself and the country in whichever capacity you’re serving,” He stressed.
He urged all to live above reproach in order to be able to serve the country dutifully.
“Ghana must be the only consideration of everything but when you allow pettiness to decide for you as a leader then I must say it very unfortunate," he added.
The football association president Kwesi Nyantakyi, won his election onto the fifa executive council when he obtained 31 votes to beat Madagascar’s football association president one more than closest challenger Ahmed.
