The Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a meeting on Tuesday morning, to examine comments made by goalkeeper Razak Brimah on social media.
The meeting was necessitated by the unfortunate words used by Brimah which management finds unacceptable.
We have also received a written apology from Brimah over the comments which we have considered in reaching a decision.
Management determined that Brimah's comments on social media were in violation of Article 6(1)& (2) of the Black Stars Code of Conduct which provides as follows:
1) During the periods of camping all members of the Delegation, particularly players are forbidden to engage in any discussions, and/or any form of communication with player agents, scouts, journalists and all other unauthorized personnel except with the express permission of the Head Coach or Leader of Delegation.
2) Any player who violates Clause 1 of this article shall be subject to a fine of not less than $1,000.00 In pursuance thereof, the GFA has decided to impose a fine of $2,500 on Brimah which will be donated to a charity in Ghana.
We render an unqualified apology to the general public.
We will continue to count on the unflinching support of Ghanaians to help us win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

I agree Razak misbehaved n must be punished. but why was the same punishment not given to Muntari and K. boateng? or was it after the 2014 world cup that they decided not to suspend any player again for misbehaving? 2. why was he fined in dollars and not Ghana CEDI's? infact the GFA needs to be investigated seriously and if possible Muntari n Boateng be called back, this is de only way the stars can win back supporters heart
@ Kwabena Oppong.Did you carefully read though what you just posted or you are one of those people with scrambled brains? What do you mean by most Ghanaians know nothing?Let me tell you something the chaps you claim know nothing are the ones whose tax money pays the bonuses for characters like this Braimah. What that means is that they have the right to let off steam if they are dis-satisfied with the performance of the player How important do you think football is to the people of Ghana in our present circumstance? Supposing we win AFCON ,we will be in an euphoric mood for 1 week and we'll be back to our old dreary existence. The John Mahamas, Akuffo Addos and a host of important people in Ghana have been insulted and derided all the time. Do they insult the entire country back?Your friend the goal -keeper is a nobody.Asamoah Djan has been criticised and insulted many times in the past but he still keeps a cool head, When you are a public figure you keep a cool head. What he did is disgusting and cheap and he must be told so. Without football Ghana will still be Ghana.
Ghanaians who are better than Razak Braimah should train and go and keep our posts at the AFCON. People talk too much. Most Ghanaians know NOTHING! If you are better than Razak Braimah, why are you not in posts for the Black Stars? The goal he conceded against Congo was not his fault. It was a quick free kick taken by the Congolese at a point where a wall must be built. Moreover, when the goalscorer fired the ball, someone blocked Braimah's view. I agree Ghana should have beaten Egypt. And Braimah should not have allowed the Egyptians to score, but this is football. As you play, your opponents also seek to score against you. We must be fair to the boy. We must also not forget that it is possible someone is using juju against him. The same way Kwarasey got frustrated and left, Braimah is also making mistakes. We need to sympatise with and encourage Braimah, not condemn him!
Razak Brimah must not play for the Black Stars again!! KVP exchanged words with the coach and got suspended indefinitely. Brimah insults the people of Ghana and he gets a $2,500 fine? GFA are going to lose the support of Ghanaians.
PLEASE BE FAIR TO SULLEY AND KELVIN BOATENG, FINE THEM TOO SO THAT THEY CAN PLACE, WHAT IS THE SECRET? HIS UNCLE IS A GFA MEMBER. CORRUPTION IN THE HIGHEST LEVEL.
Why fine him in U.S. dollars and not in cedis? Is the dollar the official currency in Ghana? T.H.I.E.V.S
What kind of Management team do we have as a nation? You discipline a player at this crucial stage of the tournament by taken his money. How do you expect him to perform? I am sure he head is all ***barred word*** up and cant concentrate. Hopefully he will not be standing in between those two sticks. This is something that can be addressed after the tournament. We are coming home
Abdul Rashid so would you insult your father back because he has insulted you is that what you mean. Criticism is part of human life, in his case is because he is representing the entire nation so all eyes are watching both positive and negative of his actions i.e when you do the right thing people will talk and the opposite is true.
hahahahh. so you fined him at this critical moment and he decided to punish Ghanaians by not keeping a good goal post. if ghana lost the next march, it's the fault of gfa.
we shouldn't criticize the players? dont talk out of tribal sentiments.Former president Mahama never insulted Ghanaians upon all the insults we rained on him.The fine is too small. he should be treated same way Sulley and KP were handled.
