Former Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah has reported received the backing of top government officials to take up the position as head Coach of the Ghana National team.
Reports indicate the 56-year-old could be re-assigned as the head Coach of the Black Stars after some individuals in the top hierarchy of government contacted the FA to appoint the ex-National player.
Appiah is currently working as head trainer of Sudanese Club Al Khartoum after he was sacked as Coach of the Black Stars three years ago following Ghana’s failure to get past the Group stages of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Ghanaian trainer remains the only indigenous Coach to qualify the Black Stars to the FIFA World Cup.
Over 70 coaches have reportedly applied for the Black Stars job following the departure of Avram Grant whose contract came to an end last month.
The Ghana Football Association have already set a six-member committee to appoint a Coach for the Black Stars.
Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, a representative from the Sports Ministry on the six-member committee has hinted his outfit is in support of the appointment of a local Coach.

I am in support of the decision to appoint local coach for our national teams. I am for domestication. Whether good or bad. This is because I strongly believe that when the blackman is given the chance he can managed his own affairs. Congrats kwesi APPIAH. Advice: Do not let them influence your decisions. Do your best for the nation and make a remarkable name for yourself and also make your generation proud. This is your second chance.
Sallas all the way
This can't be true. The guy is just NOT FIT for this job.
The campaign for Kwasi Appiah's comeback is dubious and ***barred word***. His pedigree do not match that of the past local coaches who won Ghana the trophies. P E R I O D !!!!
@ kofi Tawiah stop taking ***barred word*** how many foreign coaches has won the stars and single trophy??? After paying them loads of dollars???? Wake up and stop talking ***barred word***. The little money giving to the local coaches, they use it at least to do something to help the Ghanaian community.
That is GREAT we must support our locals and motivate them to achieve heights congrates in advance Kwasi BUT Kwasi Nyantakyi MUST GO PERIOD.
Eh! Ghana, so is it that we don't learn or we have short memories? If @ 60 and we don't have any competent person to handle the Black Stars for us locally is that a crime? Kwasi Appiah failed before he was given the job the last time. Painfully so he will fail again, because we as a people and he Kwasi have not learnt anything. A local coach is only coming in to be controlled by the so called sports journalist on player selection which is our problem with the expatriates. Our best are outside so why worry about the locals. May I ask when was the last time we qualified for CHAN?
