West Ham ace Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew of Swansea City were dropped from Ghana's squad for next week's World Cup qualifier because other players have to be assessed, Black Stars deputy coach, Ibrahim Tanko has revealed.
Tanko says the technical staff's desire to give the chance to other players to fight for places in the squad is the key reason behind the decision to leave out the duo.
The decision to leave out the two players Jordan and Andre Ayew out of the Ghana squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uganda has sparked a huge debate in Ghana.
The brothers played for their English Premier League clubs at the weekend but pulled out of the Ghana squad for their last World Cup tie against Congo.
Andre complained of a knee injury while Jordan cited a stomach illness and some believe they have been axed because of their absence for the game in Congo.
However Tanko says they want to give chance to other players to impress.
“The Ayew brothers were left behind for the Uganda match because we want to try other players as we did to Wakaso and others but for Asamoah Gyan we are still monitoring him,” he told Nhyira FM.
“The final squad of 23 for the trip will be announced on Friday and so let us wait.”
The Black Stars know that even with a win in Kampala their World Cup dreams will be over if Egypt overcome visiting Congo Brazzaville on Sunday.
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has named a 26-man squad for the tie on 7 October.
Appiah has named several players for the first time including Kingsley Sarfo of Swedish side Malmo, USA-based Abass Mohammed and Kasim Nuhu of Swiss club Young Boys.
Locally-based stars Vincent Atinga from Hearts of Oak and Inter Allies ace Isaac Twum are the other debutants.
Germany-based defender Daniel Opare returns to the side for the first time since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after playing well for his German club Augsburg.
Captain Asamoah Gyan is joined by other experienced players like Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey, who scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Congo earlier this month.
The squad will be reduced to 23 players before the trip to Uganda.

We need to look beyond politics. The fact is that the team was better without the Ayews. However, they were not the only players who were dropped. Gyan and Atsu were also not part of the team. One thing that is clear is that the squads that played the last two games were more mobile and active. How do we explain it? Simple - Gyan, Jordan, Dede and Atsu cause the forward like to become slow. They duplicate each others' roles and they work against each other. This was what KP Boateng spoke against and was sacked from the team. At least Boateng has been justified. The problem is with pairing Jordan and Gyan and pairing Atsu with Dede. It does not yield results. It must be investigated. How do all four players get to start games? It remains a mystery.
Congratulation, Kwesi Appiah for dropping those two pom-pose brats who thing their father owns the Black Stars, last time i checked they've retired couple of years ago. Dede wants to became captain of the team so bad, his ego wont take him far. Kodjo Asamoah has refused to play for National team because of Dede, why take the #10 jersey from Kwadjo Asamoah and give it to Dede, like father like son, Appiah was stripped of his captain arm band to give it to Abedi Pelle, this Ayews have no shame and human decency when it comes to common sense. Well done coach don't call them back as far as you coach the Black Stars, we have your back all the way.
Am not surprised at the decision to drop this guys. Its a Ghanaian thing.Alberta Sackey to Stephen Appiah, Essien sulley Kevin, I can continue, all suffered from this kind of mismanagement. I wish the Ayew brothers well. They should concentrate on their professional footbal.
this decision should have taken place during the world cup in South Africa 2010. try the others and they can perform more.
When we have good many more players the teasm become strong. Every body has to do his best to be included. when some players feel they have already booked their positions because of their name the no longer work hard in the team. Tanko support Akwasi Appiah to built a stronger team.
South Africa used to have a better team until Ghana scored them to qualify for the Germany 2006 World Cup. They therefore dismantled the whole team and brought in new players with few old ones. Even though they gave the new team to Alberto pereira to manage, the team South Africa has not been able to get back their fame again. These are lessons our local coaches must learn. Let's gradually introduce new players into the team so that they can learn and maintain the team. The same we did to the 2006 squad that made the new guys to be able to play well in the 2010 World Cup ,
Good coaches build team, they don't scatter players suddenly with the aim of giving chance to others. Just a few months that the coach came, he has sacked agyeman badu, wakasso, afriyie acquah, Adams kwarasey and now the ayew brothers. These guys have played together for a while and they are still active, so new players must be blended with these guys in order to safe the team. These guys form core players wether you like it or not. Unless someone can can say that these guys are finished. No good coach will take this decision. These new players will surely struggle going forward
why is Asamoah Gyan still in the team. When other countries are building their team with young players. What competitive league is he playing now. I don't think a local coach is a good idea for Ghana. Just look at the branded Captain band issue. No respect for coach
Andre's team West Ham & Jordan's team Swansea City are not doing well in EPL, facing relegation. Kwasi Appiah is right for not inviting them to the Black Stars. Case closed.
ben say it again, akwasi appiah must be careful, its time he, nyantakyie and asamoah gyan wade out of the ghana politics. if he decides to axe the ayew brothers, i think is sensible to drop gyan as well so his claaim of given chance to others may hold, look am full npp from prof adu boahene days but i swear, if they make the team npp and ndc now, it will not be evil to stage coup in ghana. so everything now is turnong to npp and ndc, are we serious, is the president sensible now like i knew him to be. these huys are below presidencey and pls mr prez, get out, focus on the god plans like free ***barred word*** etc, football does not even need a minister, as a passion of the nation, if we think ayews and asamah are the problem, let us axe them all to give peace in our team. no one can fight and win over the ayews, not that i like them but they are really great
