Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has idolized Liberia's president-elect George Weah as his best African player of all time.
During his peak as a footballer, Weah played for a number of top clubs, including AC Milan, Chelsea and Paris St-Germain and became the only African footballer till date to have won both Fifa World Player of the Year and the Ballon D'Or.
Gyan said he grew up admiring George Weah due to his immense contribution to African football history and he is excited that he has become a President after pursuing it over a decade.
“Mr George Weah is blessed and I always support him because has always been my idol since day one.
“Ask me my Best African Player of all time and I will say its George Weah.
“We won the African, Europe and World Best Player of the year in one year and now he is a President.
“We the footballers have to follow his footsteps.”
Asamoah Gyan was speaking at the ‘LEAD SERIES’ held at the Accra Mall on Saturday, to inspire the youth become successful people after a great generation.
