The stage is set for the mouthwatering finals of the ongoing African Women’s Cup in Ghana, as the defending champions Nigeria take on South Africa on Saturday, December, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With South Africa, motivated by picking their first ever Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women’s World Cup ticket, coach Desiree Ellis ladies, are well poised to prevent Nigeria from winning the tournament for the ninth time.

The Bayana Bayana of South Africa, with their speed, flair and attacking mentality, have won three and drawn one out of their four matches played so far, scoring nine goals and conceding three in the process, whilst Nigeria has won three and losing one in their four games so far and have also scored ten goals in the process and conceding one.

Being their fourth finals, coach Ellis and her charges would be seeking to make history by winning the ultimate after achieving qualification to the World Cup for the first time.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, having the intentions of defending and retaining the title for the ninth time, are well motivated to cement their quest as the best female team on the continent.

Nigeria, with another back-to-back final berth after their hard-fought 4-2 win over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, would need to go the extra mile to dispose off the threat from South Africa, after playing 120 minutes to see off Cameroon in the semifinal.

Would this be the lucky time for South Africa, after losing to Nigeria in the 2000 final and suffering defeats to Equatorial Guinea in 2008 and four years later, the Bayana Bayana are poised to make history come Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
